Monthly News Update

June 2007

David Sandeman, Managing Director Welcome to the June news letter giving a round-up of auction activity for May 07. It was an extremely busy month, one of the busiest on record with 163 auctions offering 4,198 lots. That is an average of 8 auctions and 210 lots per day.

I announced last month our purchase of http://www.englishhouseprices.com. I am pleased to say that access to the site is now totally free and do hope that you will use this site when looking up general house prices. If you have any suggestions for the site do please let me know.

As a result of several comments from recipients of last month's news letter, we have added an additional field showing the '% sold' into the 'Regional Breakdown'. I do hope you find this interesting.

Kind regards

David Sandeman

Regional Auction Analysis
With 11% increase in the number of lots offered nationally over the last quarter when compared with the same quarter 06, one would expect to see increases across the regions. This was the case with the exception of London and the South East and Yorkshire and Humberside. All the other regions saw dramatic rises in lots offered though these are not being translated into lots sold as the tables show. Wales for instance has 50% more lots offered but the value of sold lots was down 29%.

Without exception, every region saw a decrease in the sale rate, with eight of the regions experiencing a double digit reduction. London and the South East has the smallest fall, with Scotland and Wales experiencing the largest decrease in sale rate.
