Welcome to the May newsletter giving an overview of April's results and preceding periods. The numbers for April 2011 fared well when compared with April 2010 especially when one remembers that the Easter break and the royal wedding fell in the month, leading to many taking a protracted holiday. It is encouraging to see the number of lots being offered remaining steady, and the percent sold moving from 60% in April 2010 to 67% in April 2011. In addition the amount raised was up 6.8% at £162 million.

National Auction Analysis
| As with March 2011, the residential sector saw small single digit falls in amount raised though the number of lots sold was up 12% compared with April 2010. In addition the percent sold rate increased from 59% to 67%, close to March's level of 71%. The big change came in the commercial sector that saw lots offered up 9.2% and amount raised up 56% when compared with April 2010.
To look at underlying trends it is important to consider the rolling 3 month and yearly figures. These can be viewed below. |
