Welcome to the October newsletter giving a summary of the results for September 2006. As expected September was a very busy month after the summer holidays, with the pace not slackening off until December.
We have now reviewed all the suggestions we received I have set out below the three that we thought were the best.
Kind regards

National Auction Analysis
September is the first month this year to see a fall (albeit very small) in the number of lots offered when compared with the same month last year. The fall of just 0.8% is not however replicated in the rolling three month and year figures which show an upward trend of 9.5% and 7.9% respectively.
The % sold in all three periods reviewed has increased, with a yearly figure of 74% and the amount raised in September 06 was up 18% on September 05. The amount raised for the year to September 06 exceeded the £5 Billion mark for the first time, 22% up on the year to September 05.

Regional Auction Analysis
The majority of the regions saw similar activity in September 06 as in September 05 with a few exceptions. The number of lots in the East Midlands was up 158%, the South West was up 44%, whilst Wales was down 44%. With such a short period of time, differences such as these can be due to an auction date being moved from one month to the next.

News and developments on the web site
We have had literally hundreds of responses to our "Summer Madness" request for ideas to improve the site. They ranged from the ability to order results by various factors to having a 'keyword search' facility. Many of the ideas that were suggested were already in our wish list and the three best ones chosen were:
- The ability to run a search within a given radius of a postcode or town
- House price data
- Ensuring the 'back button' allows you to refine a search
We are currently changing the computer language that the website is written in which will give us much more flexibility and you will shortly see some major improvements in the site and its functionality, together with the implementation of the ideas.
Once again many thanks for all your ideas and we will be in touch with the winners in due course.
