Monthly News Update

September 2006

David Sandeman, Managing Director Welcome to the September newsletter giving a summary of the results for August 2006. As expected August was a quiet month with the majority of the auction houses taking a well earned summer break. As I write however, catalogues are flooding in and we are expecting a very busy September.

Summer Madness
During August we invited you to give us you ideas and comments for improving our site. We have been inundated with ideas and complementary comments about the service and I would like to thank everyone who sent an email to us.

We are currently reviewing them all and will be choosing the best ones to receive a subscription extension. Some of the ideas that were suggested were already in place and we have contacted the clients concerned to show them the relevant feature. A full explanation as to how the site works can be found at http://www.eigroup.co.uk/subscribers/tutorials.asp and I would urge you to take a look at the videos if you have not already done so.

If you have any comments or ideas do please send them in to us, they are valued and will shape the future direction of the site.

It is now full steam ahead until December with over 150 auctions and 3,600 lots booked for September with more catalogues due in.
Kind regards

David Sandeman

Essential Auction News
42 property auctions were held throughout the UK in August 2006. We will compare these results to those of August 2005. There is also a regional breakdown of statistics, and a detailed analysis of the type of properties offered and sold at auction.

Number of Auctions Held in the UK 42
Total Lots Offered 878
Total Lots Sold 591

National Auction Analysis
Whilst August is always a quiet month in the auction calendar, August 06 maintained the trend that we have seen all year, with a significant increase on August 05. Lots offered rose 39% whilst the amount raised increased by 66%. Increases were seen as well in the rolling year analysis with 8% more lots offered and a 22% increase in amount raised to just under £5 Billion for the year to date.

Regional Auction Analysis
With such a large increase in the national figures one would expect the regional breakdown to show general increases across the board and with one or two exceptions they do. The biggest increase was seen in Wales whilst the North West and Yorkshire had less auction activity in August 06 when compared with August 05.
