Welcome to the May news letter reviewing auction activity for April 07. 126 auctions were held nationwide compared with 107 in April 06. As with last month the average percentage sold has slipped a little to 71%.
I am pleased to announce the acquisition of http://www.englishhouseprices.com by Essential Information Group. This website, like nethouseprices.co.uk, rightmove.co.uk and ourhouseprice.com has details on every single residential transaction for property in England and Wales since April 2000.
You will see an additional icon in the form of a sign in all the results we show for residential lots. Clicking this will take you through to the site to show you properties that have sold since April 2000 in the same postcode. You can then modify your search to see a wider area.
We are enhancing the searching facilities even more and when these are in place I will bring them your attention. I hope that you find this additional feature useful and will give you even more pertinent information on the lot.
Kind regards
David Sandeman

National Auction Analysis
April 07 when compared with April 06 saw a decrease in lots offered, lots sold and the overall % sold. Only the amount raised increased and that was by 3.2%. The rolling quarter and rolling year however both show double digit increases in lots offered and big increases in the amount raised. This would confirm the trend of increasing popularity for auctions as a means of sale.

Regional Auction Analysis
In past news letters we have compared the lots offered in each of the 13 regions on a monthly basis. However, this can lead to the results being skewed by the inclusion of a large local auction. The results are now shown on a rolling quarterly basis which should iron out any anomalies and show the regional trends more accurately.
Looking at the results we can see the number of lots offered in London was down 8.3%, whilst all other regions saw growth, some as high as 60%. As we would expect, the amount raised increased in every region in line with rising property prices and higher value properties coming to auction.
